“When I first got to New York, my feet hit the sidewalk and you’d have thought I was born and raised there. I took over that town. None of my friends took me seriously. I came home and announced, ‘I’m going to move to New York,’ and they were like ‘OK.’ Then when I did, they kept waiting for me to fail and come back. But I knew I wouldn’t. I was like, ‘I’ll show you.’” - Jennifer Lawrence

Ohmygod, thank you for posting this. I’m tired of people hating the careers because of how vicious they are in the Games. Why can’t people understand that they were all just kids fighting to get back home to their districts, just acting more extreme than the others? It got them sponsors. The careers were brought up and raised to fight in the Games, it’s all they knew. Just because they’re from more privileged districts doesn’t mean they aren’t pieces used in the Capitol’s Games, just like all the rest. Their deaths are just as tragic and sad as all the other tributes, maybe even more so because of the fact that they truly believed they could get home, only to have that hope ripped away in one instant.
This was the whole point of Cato’s death monologue in the movie, to get people to sympathize with him & the Careers..
This guy was told by his Homeowners Association that he couldn’t fly the American flag in his front yard.
